Strakonice is in the centre of the very beautiful countryside of South Bohemia. The landscape is dotted with countless lakes and small villages and to the south of the region rises up to the Sumava mountains. Some of the most fascinating historic towns in Europe are close to hand.

Calderdale has been twinned with the Strakonice region of the Czech Republic for over 12 years now. We are a very active association that has been involved with many visits to and from the Czech Republic, and in the process made many friendships with people in the region.

Our visits have been timed to coincide with the unique Bagpipe Festival, however the latest visit is about to take place on the 6th August 2009, The association is equally involved with helping youth visits and establishing business links.
